Certain fire protection products shall be subject to the technical requirements of destination country/region.
Scope
Fire protection equipment mainly refers to smoke, carbon monoxide and combustible gas alarms, portable fire extinguishers, smoke masks, etc.
Regulatory requirements:
The EU
Smoke, carbon monoxide and combustible gas alarms marketed in the EU are subject to the following requirements:
An EC declaration of conformity (declaration of performance) should be published by a manufacturer to indicate that the product meets applicable requirements. Depending on its functions, these applicable requirements are under different regulations, including but not limited to:
Construction Product Regulation 305/2011 (except for plug-in devices)
Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU, with reference to EN 60950-1:2006 or EN 62368-1:2014 (for plug-in devices)
Radio Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU (for wireless smoke detectors)
BS 1363 – if the product comes with a plug (in the UK only)
Documentation from a notified body that shows your product is certified under the applicable EN standard:
EN 14604 for smoke alarms
EN 50291 for carbon monoxide alarms
EN 50294 for combustible gas alarms
Portable fire extinguishers marketed in the EU shall be subject to the following requirements:
An EC-type examination certificate that shows compliance to:
Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU
EN 3-7: Portable fire extinguishers with regard to the characteristics, performance requirements and test methods of the product
