Announcement on the Tightened Control of Smoke Detector Products on AliExpress

Dear sellers,

To meet the increasing global demand for smoke alarm products, improve the overall quality of AliExpress products, ensure a good shopping experience, and meet the compliance requirements, the platform has opened an portal for sellers to upload the US UL certification for relevant categories on September 30, 2020. Starting from October 12, 2020, the platform will enforce certification control over the smoke alarm categories as follows:

I. Product listing rules

When listing smoke alarm products, sellers must select the type of certification they have obtained and upload the corresponding product certification information:

UL Certification (Mandatory in the US market)

When submitting the UL certification, sellers shall provide the UL certification issued by NRTLs and product packaging pictures that contain the UL marking. For example, smoke alarms shall comply with UL 217, smoke detectors with UL 268,

and carbon monoxide alarms with UL 2034.

II. Time

AliExpress plans to implement the mandatory control over smoke alarm products on October 12, 2020. Newly listed/edited smoke alarm products can only be sold into the US market when they have passed UL certification. For the existing products, the platform plans to implement the mandatory control on October 29, 2020. Smoke alarms that fail the platform's UL certification review will be geo-blocked to the US market. Please upload the certification in time.

III. Violations and Penalties

1. Products that do not meet the relevant national qualification requirements will be geo-blocked by AliExpress.

2. Products found to have been listed under an incorrect category will be subject to the following penalties:

For smoke alarm/carbon monoxide alarm products that are not placed in the specified categories: For the first violation, the products will be temporary removed (but editable); for the second violation, the products will be deleted. For a seller with repeated misplacement, the product will be deleted with 2 points punishment.

3. Sellers who submit fake certification or certification owned by another seller will be subject to the following penalties:

If a seller submits fake certification or certification owned by another seller, the product will be deleted with 6 points punishment.
 

For accounts with severe violations, the platform will impose penalties in accordance with AliExpress Rules on Handling Severe Disruption of Platform Order:

Serious violation: 12 points/time, freezing the AliExpress account for seven days;

Extremely serious violation: 48 points/time, closing the AliExpress account.
