Announcement on the Tightened Control of Children Clothing Products with Drawstrings on AliExpress

Dear sellers,

Drawstrings in children's clothing are hazardous. Drawstrings may get entangled with children's slides and other items, causing chocking, or may get entangled with car doors and other items, causing children to be dragged by accident. European and US regulations have imposed restrictions on drawstrings in children's clothing. To protect the safety of children and meet compliance requirements, AliExpress will implement mandatory control over children's clothing with drawstrings from September 25, 2020.

I. Scope

1. Children's upper body clothing, including sweaters, hoodies and coats, in sizes 2T to 12 or the equivalents for children under 14 years old cannot contain drawstrings.

2. Children's lower body clothing sold to the US market shall not have drawstrings longer than 3 inches (7.62 cm).

AliExpress plans to clear out children's upper body clothing products with drawstrings and block children's lower body clothing with drawstrings that exceed the length limit from the US market on September 25, 2020.

III. Violations and penalties

1. Upper body clothing with drawstrings: Relevant products will be deleted. For a seller with repeated violations, the penalty will be upgraded: The products will be deleted with two points punishment for each violation.

2. Lower body clothing with drawstrings exceeding the limit: Relevant products will be geo-blocked to the US market.
 

For accounts with severe violations, the platform will impose penalties in accordance with AliExpress Rules on Handling Severe Disruption of Platform Order:
Serious violation: 12 points/time, freezing the AliExpress account for seven days;
Extremely serious violation: 48 points/time, closing the AliExpress account.
